Energy Management and Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Energy Management

In response to the global trend of energy conservation and carbon reduction, we are committed to enhancing energy management efficiency. We continuously promote energy-saving measures, including improving energy efficiency and introducing advanced energy-saving equipment. The power-saving target has been raised from 1% to 1.5%, ensuring the company effectively reduces energy consumption and lowers carbon emissions from production. This commitment underscores our dedication to sustainable development within the industry.

Greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory

In 2021, we initiated a greenhouse gas inventory and obtained an SGS verification statement. The inventory scope includes upstream raw material procurement, upstream raw material transport, downstream product transport, employee commuting, business travel, and waste disposal. In 2023, we expanded the inventory scope to include beverage operations and set 2023 as the baseline year.

  • In-house on-site blow molding strategy for GHG emission reduction benefits : By in-house production to reduce GHG emissions of goods transportation. The company reduced logistics-related emissions by approximately 215.5 tons CO2e in 2024.

  • Setting Net Zero Carbon Goals and Measures
In 2022, Hon Chuan declared its 2050 Net Zero Target, with 2022 as the baseline year for the packaging division. For 2024, the target was a 1% reduction compared to the base year. Key results and actions:
    1. Improving Energy Efficiency: Process optimization and replacement of high-energy-consuming equipment led to ~1% energy savings in 2024.
    2. Low-Carbon Energy Planning: Installation of a 1,600 kWp solar PV system to supply renewable  energy.
